ISSUES & POLITICAL CONCERNS

Time for Change

Limited Government, Efficient Government, Effective Government

My beliefs are anchored in Matthew 22: 37-40…/ Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’  38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’  40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

Furthering that concept:

Luke 6: 31 Do to others as you would have them do to you.

The Primary Duty of Government begins here.

This is the foundation of JUSTICE in humanity.

Justice is rooted in the Individual Rights of Person, Property and Promises. (Adam Smith, The Theory of Moral Sentiments, 1759).

Respect for the Individual Rights of Person, Property and Promises (PPP) flows in two directions. That is, from you, as well as to you. The Social Contract of the USA makes punishment for violations of those Individual Rights the primary duty of Government.

If you shout Justice in the middle of the highway, honesty demands that you teach Justice (PPP) in your home.

EDUCATION

The Education Establishment seems to exist for itself, not focused on developing good citizens for the future. Evidence of this is the exponential growth of Management and Administrators. At the same time, Classroom Teachers get slight growth, poor support, overwhelmed and underpaid.

Students need to be taught relevant information with aspirational pedagogy that prepares them to be good citizens. We can't teach hatred of wealth and be surprised that poverty abounds. We can't harp on the sins of the past and be surprised that mental health suffers and victim mentality multiplies.

We must be aware that Formal Education is not the only source of learning. Informal Education in the home and the culture a student lives in have a major impact on the quality of life for society at large. We need leadership that recognizes this and takes action designed to accelerate success, both in and out of school.

Promoting Individual Happiness

Justice and Education are major elements that help people achieve their happiness. Many other life-lessons add to a person's practical wisdom. We need leadership that can identify and implement policies that promote a person's ability to grow their happiness and reduce the obstacles presented by others and Government.
